Inspiration
As a bassoonist, entrepreneur and investor, I find inspiration in Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring. The piece vividly captures the turmoil, struggle, and eventual renewal that nature undergoes each year – a powerful metaphor for the entrepreneurial journey.
Building a company is rarely straightforward. Like the unpredictable rhythms and bold harmonies in Stravinsky’s music, every venture encounters moments of chaos, tension, and transformation. Yet, it is through these challenges that true innovation and growth are born. My investment philosophy is rooted in this spirit: supporting founders and teams who embrace change, persevere through adversity, and ultimately bring about the “resurrection” of new ideas and industries.
Often Entrepreneurs and investors not only need to be right with their decisions, but at the same time contrary to achieve outstanding results and returns.
For Stravinsky that sounds familiar:
At the premiere of Sacre the Printemps itself, there was laughter from the very beginning of the opening music — starting with the first notes of the extremely high bassoon solo. This grew into an uproar when, shortly afterward, the dancers appeared with ecstatic, stomping movements. It was thanks to the stoic calm of the conductor, Pierre Monteux, that the performance was able to continue to the end.
Success can ultimately only be jugded backwards. And this is why I called my invesment activities Printemps Capital.
Sacre du Printemps
“In The Rite of Spring, I wanted to depict the dazzling resurrection of nature, which is brought to new life [...], the resurrection of the whole world.”
— Igor Stravinsky
